Football World Cup 2014 Brasil: France beat Nigeria by 2-0, to accompany qualified teams for quarter-final


                                                                


BRASILIA: France scored twice in the final 11 minutes in Brasilia to beat Nigeria and progressed to the third round, including Paul Pogba's header and own goal from Joseph Yobo in the injury time.

 The Juventus midfielder rose highest at the back post to give Didier Deschamps' side the lead with twelve minutes to go.

Nigeria's goalkeeper Enyeama preserved many ball blocking the France hopes, he saved most than any goalkeeper in the group phase and had to be alert again to keep out Pogba's fierce close-range volley as the play swept from end to end in a first half that saw both sides look exposed defensively.

Former Everton defender Joseph Yobo put the ball in his own net during finishing moment, giving France lead.

In the beginning, first half went goalless and both team could find their goal

 France, the 2006 runners-up, did not make it past the group stage in South Africa four years ago but they looked  much more united as a squad in this tournament.

So far, five teams have qualified for the quarter-final stage.
