Hashim Amla to be the captain of South African Test team
The 31-year-old great batsman Graeme Smith, who retired in March from international cricket after a record 109 Tests as skipper.
Amla's first chore will be a two-match series in Sri Lanka next month with one-day captain AB de Villiers as his vice-captain.
Amla said "It is an honour and a privilege to be given this responsibility,"
He also included "I would like to pay tribute to the leadership Graeme Smith has provided throughout my international career."
De Villiers, the number one-ranked Test batsman and the South Africa wicketkeeper, was Smith's representative and was thought to have been a leading candidate for the Test captaincy.
Amla is also supposed to be a great captain as he is great player, i
n the coming tour of Sri Lanka he would represent his Test team
