Five-time champion Serena Williams beaten by France's Alize Cornet in the earliest Wimbledon since 2005, in the third round.
24th ranked, Cornet, won 1-6 6-3 6-4 on Court One to take her second victory of the year over the world number one.
William is suffering first time early defeat in Wimbledon since 2005 in her nine appearances, and only the third time in 15 visits to Wimbledon.
Alize Cornet has beaten a top-20 player first time in grand slam as she had not defeated any before.
"I just cannot believe it," Cornet said. "Three years ago I couldn't play on grass, I was so bad, but now I have beaten Serena, the world number one on her own court.
"I have to get used to it and focus on the next match because the tournament is not over for me. I am not sure how I did it but just with the heart and the help from the crowd." she added
Williams, 32,was seem to be nervous in start, doing five blunders and two double errors before the rain came at 1-1 to force the players off for several hours.
A run of five straight games on the resurgence suggested the American had overcome whatever had been agitating her earlier, but the Fiery Cornet was struggling.
After having lost to set 5-1, she pounced on Williams and tried hard to take her game.
