Cricket: NZ former Batsman banned from cricket for whole life
WELLINGTON:"My name is Lou Vincent and i am cheat" Embarrassing former New Zealand cricketer Lou Vincent on Tuesday said, who is now banned for whole life.
The former New Zealand batsman, Lou Vincent, has been banned for life by the ECB after he revealed disrupting the ECB's anti-corruption rules and regulations. Hours before the penalty was declared, Vincent released a statement saying that he was a cheat and that he had accepted money to under-perform.
That statement include "My name is Lou Vincent and I am a cheat. I have abused my position as a professional sportsman on a number of occasions by choosing to accept money through fixing," he said this by confirming the ban.
It is likely to be formally announced by the England and Wales Cricket Board later Tuesday.
NZC chief executive David White said the management was, "appalled" by Vincent's actions, "and supported the penalty handed down."
The anti-corruption case around Vincent relating to county cricket had, ECB CEO David Collier said, "crossed different cricketing jurisdictions and needed close collaboration and intelligence-sharing between both our own anti-corruption unit, other domestic boards and the ICC's ACSU." He told Vincent as "an individual who repeatedly sought to involve others in corrupt activity for his own personal gain has accepted that his conduct warrants a lifetime ban from cricket." The ECB said that ban still "required the approval of the ECB's independent Cricket Discipline Commission".
