World Cup 2014: Germany defeated France in the first quarter-final of Friday to become the first nation reaching semi-final four times consecutive, at Rio de Janiero

The victory with 12 minute header by Mats Hummels  assured that Germany will play either Brazil or Colombia in the semi-final of the huge event at Brasil.


Germany will play in semis for the 13th time in 20 appearances in World cup and four time consecutive progress since  1998.


It was also reported that seven of the German's squad was suffering to mild flu as Hummels returned to take Per Mertesacker´s place at centre-back.

Miroslav Klose, the joint top-scorer at World Cup finals with 15 goals, was chosen up front with Thomas Mueller switching to the right wing.

Instead not only Germany gripped the game, but the first real chance feel to Benzema, who hit wide after seven minutes.

On 33 minute France got real chance when Mathieu Valbuena´s shot was saved by Manuel Neuer and Benzema failed to control the follow-up, pressing the ball just wide the bar.

 Germany looked far more balanced than against Algeria in their last match and a period of constant force told when Hummels held off Varane to guide home a Toni Kroos free-kick.

Now, Brasil vs Colombia will tell that who is going to meet Germany in the semi-final .
