Murray, Djokovic,Williams cruised to third round, US Open 2014


NEW YORK: Novak Djokovic affirmed the third round of a Grand Slam for the 25th consecutive time while Serena Williams wrenched up her 80th US Open win as the top seeds facilitated into the third round on Thursday.
World number one Ana Ivanovic and 2011 champion, the eighth seeded Samantha Stosur were eliminated on a day when stiff winds brought new challenges at suffusing pasture for players already dealing with plus-30 degree heat (+90F).
World number one and top seed Djokovic cruised past France´s Paul-Henri Mathieu 6-1, 6-3, 6-0, discharging 13 great and 33 winners as the 2011 champion adequately stayed on course for a fifth subsequence final presence. Murray showed none of the physical problems or cracks he suffered in the first round when he was cramping, sending down 36 winners past Bachinger
"Both of us made great efforts a bit early on but once I started to get used to the wind I was able to adjust my strategy a bit," said the Scot.
